It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...

...and everyone knows what times they were. But what would the year-end be if I didn't post of few bests & worsts of my own. No need to label which are which, right?!?

And I can see Russia from my back yard.
The rise of female pundits.
HBO's John Adams.
Consumer gene testing services.
Tuesday, November 4th

The banking system.
Suicide bombings in the name of any god.
GOP bigwigs sending out that "magical" song.
Greedy financial bums, who are way too many to list here.
And the passing of all those we came to know and love.

So it's goodbye and good riddance to 2008. And let's hope we have a lot more bests and a lot less worsts in the year ahead.

Out with the old, in with the new?

As the first day of 2009 approaches, why does everything old seem new again?

The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Achmenijad, Castro and Chavez vs. America
Israel vs. Hamas and Hezbollah.
India vs. Pakistan.
Suicide bombers vs. everyone.

High tech vs. lower health care.
Schools vs. no child left behind.
Limbaugh, Hannity, Colter vs. anyone who disagrees with them.
And the Madoff's of the world vs. all that is humanly good.

Seems even this year, we really can't teach an old dog new tricks.
There, I said it.

Happy Holidays?

'Twas the night before Xmas and Hanukkah's fourth night,
this year the holidays just don't seem right.
While Wall Street and the bankers receive bailouts galore,
thousands of employees get pink-slips and salaries no more.

Santa and the Maccabees continue scratching their heads,
not a lot of presents to give out, seems retail's all but dead.
With the money kinda tight and times getting pretty hard,
you can count yourself lucky to get a greeting card.

So while you light up Menorahs, or trim trees in the house,
blame it on guys like Bernie Madoff,
the greedy bleeping louse.

You better duck, Hank!

Dear Mr. Paulson,

Thanks again for giving away our taxpayer monies to all those corporate weasels we've come to know and love. The US bankers who projected earnings for more than a year, then suddenly cried bankruptcy in three months. The ones who reaped $1.6 billion in salaries and bonuses, continue to fly around in their corporate jet fleets. Those telling their PR hacks not to tell us where all t hat money has gone. Yeah, those guys.

And while I'm at it, I think I'll toss an extra pair of my size 5's at a few other creeps you know, like those Toyota Republicans, Bernie Madoff, and Lehman Bros' shameless Mr. and Mrs. Fuhl.

Wishing you all the best in 2009. Yeah, right.

If Only the Earth Stood Still

Blago told us he's "dying, dying, dying to tell the truth." But he won't.
Cheney still says there were WMDs. But there weren't.
Rick Warren speaks daily of God's love. But why Prop 8?
Hamas spoke of peace with Israel for six months. But it's over.
New York, Illinois and Minnesota tell us they want Senators. But not right now.
The Detroit 3 say they'll make more fuel efficient cars. But when?
Wall Street says they'll do better. But we doubt it.
U.S. banks said they'd go broke without bailout. But million dollar bonuses?
The Q'uran speaks of love. But terrorist bombings?

Forget "barata nictu," Gort.

Boy is Rudyard Kipling pissed

Today Illinois Governor Blagojevich looked us all in the eye and protested his innocence. But instead of quoting his favorite politician Richard Nixon, and repeating those famous words, "I am not a crook!" Blago had to go a ruin my favorite poem, If.

On this day...

George Washington crossed the Delaware, the US declared war on Japan, NAFTA was signed, and I was born... as were Jim Morrison, Mary Queen of Scots, James Thurber, Sammy Davis Junior, and (if you believe this) the Virgin Mary, among others.

On a sadder note, the world's peace icon was shot dead.

The unknown is what it is. And to be frightened of it is what sends everybody
scurrying around chasing dreams, illusions, wars, peace, love, hate, all that.
Unknown is what it is. Accept that it's unknown and it's plain sailing.
~ John Lennon

Just plain stupid - Part 2

Dutch-born Johan Heesters - sorry Johan -- Hitler was NOT a nice guy.
India's Home Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram - so you admit there were lapses in security? 'Ya think?.
OJ - No, Mr. Simpson, what is/was yours is no longer yours.
Car bombs - what's more can I say say?
Saving profits not jobs - without these people, who's gonna make you money?
Detroit 3 in recent years - decades of recent years, in fact.
