The Summer of Love Remembered

we must be in heaven, man... sometimes, i feel like a motherless child...freedom, freedom... i dreamed I saw Joe Hill last nite... the New York Thruway's closed, man, far out...good morning, what we have in mind is breakfast in bed for 400,000... i'm goin' home, goin' home... and it's 1, 2, 3, 4, what are we fighting for... i get by with a little help from my friends... it's beautiful, man... half a million strong... Port-o-Sans... gimme an "F"...oh say can you seeeeeee... this is the second time we'ver ever played in front of people, we're scared sh#$!less... take me higher... we are stardus, we are golden, and we've got to get ourselves back to the garden.

Dog Days of Summer

After a May, June and July of cool, rainy weather in the Northeast, the "dog days" of summer have arrived. With temperatures and humidity levels so high, you'd think I live in the tropics.

Seems the August Town Hall meetings are really heating up, too. I watch people jumping up and down and screaming to disrupt any possible civil discourse.

I see people reading from a Xeroxed page of talking points rather than speaking from their hearts.

I hear hyperbole without facts to back up inane, insane remarks.

I se people carrying guns outside and into the room.

Why would anyone feel the need to carry a loaded weapon into a meeting of the minds unless he or she plans on using it. And THAT truly would be mindless.

In the days of our Founding Fathers and through the centuries, the Town Hall meeting process was made available to discuss, not to disrupt.

Stop the madness, people.

Start the talking.
